Topics include blueprints, basic G and M codes, editor software, linear and circular interpolation, CNC lathes, process plan, Machinery Handbook, programming techniques and tool path. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate proper industry techniques for developing a simple program for creating a part on a CNC lathe.
Pre-requisite(s): MAC 114 , MAC 121 , MAC 131 , and MAC 141 . Co-requisite(s): MAC 122 . Course is typically offered in Fall. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate tool setup on a CNC Turning Center and/or CNC Lathe.
- Demonstrate work offsets on a CNC Turning Center and/or CNC Lathe.
- Create a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) program from a blueprint.
- Create a part from a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) program.
