CMT 214 Planning and Scheduling Lecture: 3 Lab: 0 Clinic: 0 Credits: 3 This course covers the need for the process of planning construction projects, as well as the mechanics and vocabulary of project scheduling. Topics include project preplanning, scheduling format, planning for production, short interval planning, schedule updating and revising, and computer-based planning and scheduling. Upon completion, the student should be able to understand the need for planning and scheduling, the language and logic of scheduling, and use of planning skills.
Pre-requisite(s): CMT 210 and BPR 130. Course is typically offered in Spring. Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:
- Describe the basic planning principles to construction projects.
- Describe how to coordinate project preplanning.
- Demonstrate the development of a complete project plan.
- Diagram the inherent logic in construction activities.
- Describe the Critical Path Method of scheduling.
- Demonstrate the use of computers in project scheduling.
- Demonstrate how to implement detailed planning known as “production planning”.
- Utilize “short-interval” planning.
- Characterize the importance schedule updates and their legal implications in the project.
