COS 273 Instructor Concepts II

This course covers advanced cosmetology instructional concepts. Topics include practical demonstrations, lesson planning, lecture techniques, development and administration of assessment tools, record keeping, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to develop lesson plans, demonstrate supervision techniques, assess student performance in a classroom setting, and keep accurate records.

Pre-requisite(s): Current N.C. Cosmetology License along with COS 271 and COS 272 .
Co-requisite(s): COS 274 .
Course is typically offered in Spring.

At the completion of the course, the students should be able to do the following:

Examine advanced cosmetology instructional concepts.
Examine the theories of education as they apply to adult learners in a cosmetology classroom.
Apply theories of education as they apply to adult learners in a cosmetology classroom.
Develop lesson plans for both theory and laboratory concepts.
Create activities to assess student performances in a classroom setting.
